Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research Centers: 2027 Special Interest Project Supplements (SIPS)

This NOFO will provide supplemental funding to the currently funding twenty (20) CDC Prevention Research Centers (PRCs) to conduct Special Interest Projects (SIPs). The purpose of the SIPs is to inform public health practice through high-quality applied health promotion and disease prevention public health research in real-world settings to identify, design, test, assess, evaluate, disseminate, and translate interventions or resources to prevent and reduce risk for the leading causes of illness, disability, and death in the United States.  The ten (10) SIPs that will be included in this NOFO are: (1) Automating Cancer Survivorship Care Plans: A Feasibility Study; (2) Medicare Data on Prostate Cancer Patterns of Care and Quality Indicators; (3) Planning Better Ovarian Cancer Care: Using State and Local Data to Improve Access to Gynecologic Oncologists; (4) Messaging about the benefits of and community-level approaches to reducing alcohol use for cancer prevention; (5) Demonstration of the use of cancer registry data to improve cancer clinical trial enrollment; (6) Visual Aids for Sunscreen Application; (7) Demonstration project for weather-related emergency preparedness and response plans for cancer prevention and control; (8) Developing a framework for improving prostate cancer care and informing support services; (9) Public Health Approaches to Hereditary Cancer Prevention, Detection, and Treatment; and (10) Research on Recent Developments and Emerging Issues in Chronic Disease Prevention and Care.
